Watch “Tax Season – for a CPA” on RexTube.
.
.

A window into the exciting world of a CPA and the annual roller coaster ride called “The Busy Tax Season”.  Just marvelous.
.
.
.
Just think if all the work you did all year was all due on April 15th.
Do you think that might cause a little bit of stress?

I have heard of several stories about CPA’s having fatal heart attacks during the busy season, not good, to be sure.
.
.
.
Work seven days a week for long hours. Work until you drop. Work so much you get a “hang-over” from the prior days excessive hours. I am not referring to alcohol, which I never drink. I mean a tired stupor from over exertion the day before.

There are always computer problems to derail your plans. Plus printer problems, software ptoblems, communication problems, conflicting laws problems, stress problems, work compression and overload problems, a few client lack of patients problems, e-filing rejection after submissionh problems with the overly picky and inefficient electronic filing government effort reduction program designed to get money to the treasury without any effort by government workers.
.
.
.

.
.
.
I want to dispel any false assumptions that the initials CPA mean Cleanning Pressing and Alterations, like in a laundry.
.
CPA really stands for Certified Public Accountant. They must be impartial and unbiases at all times. The CPAs came over from England to the USA with the first American settlers. In England they are now called Chartered Accountants, presumably after receiving their Charter from Her Royal Highness herself, representing the “Royal Crown” of the UK.

Some clients do not practice good record keeping abilities. Then the CPA will need to guide the clients efforts to extract the data needed for tax processing. If that process is not successful, then the CPA firm needs to roll up their sleeves and try to sort out the clients mess. Sometimes it is called a ‘shoebox’ sometimes its a cardboard ‘bankers box’. It is more efficient if the client can keep the records straight as each item is received during the year. That will save time later and less important documents will not be lost. In fact some clients records are in such a mess they wrote a song about it. This song about messy record keeping systems is sung by radio announcer Leone di Lernia. He has a bit of a southern European accent when he sings but you will understand the message and his frustration by the video imaging.

LEONE DI LERNIA – BASTA CON L’IVA SUI RIFIUTI:
.

.
Difficult and complex tax research and incomprehensible super long rules text. Sometimes no clear answer that specifically answers the client’s factual situation. Lots of head scratching and thinking under crushing time crunch pressure.
.
.
.
image
.
.
.
image
.
.
.
Some clients even get angry at the CPA for tax rules that were approved by Congress and signed into law by the President.
.
.
.
image
.
.
.
Some clients think they know the rules but it is based on a false classification of fact, a mistaken definition of a word or phrase, or a rule taken out of context that would be good to apply except the rule does not apply to the client’s situation.
.

.
image
.

.

Understanding the tax rules and applying to specific client situations is very very tricky and great care must be given.to the effects of positions taken on tax returns to make absolutely sure that they are right. It is rarely easy.
